Roger Federer has taken the lead en route to victory in Davis Cup that led Switzerland to its first championship. Federer, who began his Davis Cup journey way back in 1999 when the Swiss great first played for Switzerland, beat Richard Gasquet and won the Davis Cup championship. The 17-time Grand Slam champion has claimed many big accomplishments in tennis and he is more than happy to share his latest accolade with his teammates.

"This one is for the boys," Federer said via BBC Sport. "This is not for me, I have won enough."

Federer added that he was happy to be able to become a part of such a historic moment for Switzerland. It took Federer 15 long years to succeed in the Davis Cup. After defeating Gasquet of France, 6-4 6-2 6-2, Federer fell down on his knees, lied face down on the clay court, and then hugged Swiss team captain Severin Luthi and his other teammates.

Federer also acknowledged Stan Wawrinka's effort. Federer and Wawrinka had given Switzerland a 2-1 lead after beating Gasquet and Julien Benneteau in straight sets in the doubles event on Nov. 22. According to Federer, Wawrinka had played unbelievably well over the weekend, which gave him the opportunity to seal the victory for the Swiss team. Switzerland beat France 3-1 to win the Davis Cup championship.

Meanwhile, Federer and the rest of the boys dressed up in nice suits as they attended the Davis Cup champion's dinner. The official account of Swiss Tennis has shared a snap of the boys on Twitter. Other tennis players also extended their congratulatory messages for the Swiss team on Twitter.
