Federer said that he is a lot more confident in the 2014 season compared to the previous years. Well, Federer's higher level of confidence is certainly paying off. Confidence alone can really sometimes bring about more success, right?

"Look, I'm much higher than I was last year and that's very satisfying just because I have confidence in my movement," Federer said after his match against Murray. "It has really become a game of movement out there, you know and last year I just felt like it wasn't just quite right, you know," he said.

Federer admitted that it got tough on him when he started losing matches in 2013. "I kept playing and I kept on doing my work and I'm happy now that the last four months paid off and now here I am in the semis," he said. "It's an amazing start of the season for me," said Federer.

Federer will face Nadal on Jan. 24 for the semifinals of the first Grand Slam tournament of 2014. The two tennis superstars are no strangers to each other. Federer and Nadal first met during the Miami Masters back in 2004. They have met 32 times after and the Spanish athlete leads their head-to-head 22-10.

Federer said he is looking forward to meeting Nadal in the semifinals. "I'm sure it's gonna be a good match, it's gonna be touch, it's gonna be brutal and all these things," the Swiss athlete said. "We've had some epics over the years and he has done an amazing comeback last year, I couldn't probably have dreamt of a better season for him last year after the seven months being out with his injury," he said. "It's great to see him back, and I hope also Andy stays healthy and then I hope we can slug it out here," he conluded.
