Roger Federer is currently on his 16th season on tour with his participation in the 2014 Brisbane International, and he has certainly made a promising start with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Jarkko Nieminen on Wednesday evening, booking him a place in the quarterfinals of the said tennis tournament.

The 32-year-old tennis superstar eases into the quarterfinals effortlessly with his crisp victory over Nieminen, who showed some aggressive play during the first set.

Federer is focused on putting an end to his disappointing 2013 season. He is certainly blissful and happy to be back on the courts ant play at the Queensland Tennis Centre.

"I have been serving okay," said Federer. "My forehand is going well, my movement is okay," he added. "I am seeing the ball okay," he said. "I expect to play a bit better in the next match," Federer said. Even though the former World No. 1 already did well for his first match in many weeks, he is feeling optimistic that he can definitely do more.

Federer continues to be a profoundly forceful player. He keeps on pleasing fans and even the organisers. Even Brisbane Tournament Director Cameron Pearson can only say good words about Federer. "Roger transcends tennis," said Pearson. "He's a global brand and he's the most popular player of all time," Pearson added.

All throughout his career, Federer has played in every tennis tournament in Australian, except for the Brisbane International. Will he win the tournament? A lot of his fans would certainly hope so.

Federer to Play Marinko Matosevic in the Next Round

Federer is expected to play against Marinko Matosevic of Australia in the quarterfinals. Matosevic beat American Sam Querrey with 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-4 win.

The quarterfinals match will take place on Friday evening at 7 o'clock.

"I feel like I'm improving every year and the sky's the limit," said Matosevic.
