'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' spoilers: Bail Organa to have a cameo appearance
Bail Organa will have a cameo appearance in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The character played a significant role in forming an alliance against the Empire and was quite active in the timeline of the movie.
[Spoiler alert]
Appearing on CBS’s “The Talk” show, Jimmy Smits seemingly confirmed his appearance in the movie, Entertainment Weekly reports. The actor first played the role of Bail Organa in the prequel movie “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” and also appeared in “Revenge of the Sith.”
Smits had limited screen time in both the movies, but Bail Organa became an important character after he adopted Padme Amidala’s (Natalie Portman) daughter, who he raised as his own. The daughter turned out to be Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), who also emerged as a main player in the fight against the Empire and later against the First Order.
Bail Organa also appears in the animation series “Star Wars Rebels,” in which he was seen laying the foundation for the Rebel Alliance; by providing the budding movement with support, intelligence, funds and even ships.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is set in the timeline in which Bail Organa was still actively aiding the Rebels. The main plot of the movie revolves around a group of Rebels attempting to steal the plans for the first Death Star; the Empire’s super weapon that is capable of destroying a whole planet in a single attack.
The leader of the group of Rebels tasked with stealing the Death Star plans is Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). The team will be using a new U-Wing space craft in their mission, which is being introduced for the first time in the movie.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is slated to be released on Dec. 15 in Australia. The movie has been directed by Gareth Edwards and has recently completed reshoots.
