'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' spoilers: Details about 'Bigmouth' character and more

Director Gareth Edwards has shared new details about two characters in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” that fans have lovingly nicknamed “Space Monkey” and “Bigmouth.” Meanwhile, Lucasfilm has revealed a new character from the movie and the studio has also teased details about the character at the San Diego Comic-Con.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Edwards explained how the new aliens in the movie were created. He said that he had asked the creature department to come up with “a thousand ideas” and later he got to select the ones that would be in his movie. The director compared the process to casting actors.

“There were walls and walls of these different types of characters that we could’ve picked from,” Edwards said. He then narrowed the list to top hundred and then “refined” it further.

One of the new aliens in the movie nicknamed “Bigmmouth” is actually a platoon leader in the Rebel Alliance named Pao. “There was this great design of this creature that’s mouth would open really wide, and he looked like he was really good at giving orders and shouting at people during a battle,” Edwards said.

Edwards decided to give the alien with the big mouth his big moment in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and that’s how Pao was born.

Another alien seen in a video recently released is “Space Monkey,” who laughs hysterically while firing his machine gun. The name of this character is Bistan. He is the gunner of the troop transport ship U-Wing. Edwards said that this was his favourite character in the movie, but didn’t want to “give away” what happens to the character in the movie.

Meanwhile, Lucasfilm shared a picture of a new character in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” on the official Facebook page of the franchise. The name of the character is Edrio Two Tubes. He is a mercenary pilot along with his “eggmate” Benthic. His home world Yar Togna was occupied by the Empire, forcing him to flee the planet as a refugee. And now he is keen on revenge.
