'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' spoilers: Director Krennic and Galen Erso connection explained in tie-in book
A new “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” tie-in book is set to be released in November. The book will give the fans an insight into the past relationship between the villain Director Orson Krennic and Galen Erso. A leaked synopsis of the book teases some of the past events involving the two characters.

According to the synopsis the book is set during the time of the Republic, when Supreme Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) was in charge, Star Wars Underworld reports. War is raging across the galaxy with the Separatists are fighting the Republic forces.
The war between the Separatists and the Republic has gone on for years, with each side attempting to build bigger and better weapons. Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) is a member of Palpatine’s top secret Death Star super weapon project. Krennic wants to finish the weapon quickly, and his friend Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) could be the key.
Galen is the father of Jyn Erso in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The character is said to be involved in energy-focused research. The military application of this technology has attracted the interest of the Republic and the Separatists. Both sides want to use the brilliant scientist, and the Separatists kidnap him and his family.
Later Krennic rescues Galen, his wife and his daughter from the Separatists. The villain then gives his friend the opportunity to continue his research with all the resources he needs. Galen is indebted to his friend for rescuing him and his family and goes to work, believing that the technology will be used for peaceful purposes.
The struggle of Galen’s family in the “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” tie-in book is to “untangle Krennic’s web of deception.” The book may also reveal the reason why Jyn (Felicity Jones) is chosen to steal the plans of the Death Star in the movie.
