2013 is year full of unexpected ups and downs but in the music business those who stayed on top are the ones who proved themselves time and time again how it means to break a record. But some newcomers managed to break into the chart and gained attention not just within their comfort zone but worldwide.

For this year, rising star such as Kiwi singer Lorde is making a lot of waves in the international scene and UK's Arctic Monkeys is kicking a lot of *ss in the Billboard chart. Here are the Top 10 songs of 2013 according to Rolling Stone magazine.

10. Arctic Monkey, "Do I Wanna Know?" - Released as a single on June 19, Arctic Monkey, "Do I Wanna Know?" was first played live on May 22 in Ventura, California at Arctic Monkeys' AM Tour and was played as the opening number. The song peaked number 11 in the UK Singles Chart and entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United Sates.

9. Drake, "Started From the Bottom" - From Drake's third studio album, "Nothing Was the Same," the hit song was written by the Canadian singer together with Michael Coleman and Noah Shebib. "Started From the Bottom" was officially released on iTunes on Feb. 6 and has reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and it's the singers eleventh top 10 hit on the chart.

8. James Blake, "Retrograde" - Produced by singer-songwriter James Blake, "Retrograde" was released as a Digital download on Feb, 11 as the lead from his "Overgrown" album. The song peaked at number 87 on the UK Singles Chart, and peaked to number 10 in Denmark.

7. Justin Timberlake, "Mirrors" - Justin Timberlake remains to be a force to be reckoned with as he released his latest album. The song was inspired by the love for his wife, Jessica Biel and his grandparents. "Mirrors" peaked at number two in the U.S.

6. Parquet Courts, "Stoned and Starving" - Fast, funny and catchy: "Stoned and Starving" is Parquet Courts' hit single that comes with fun lyrics that inhabits the mind of a drifting street urchin. A real treat from the band's "Light Up Gold" album.

5. Disclosure, 'When a Fire Starts to Burn" - From the album "Settle," "When a Fire Starts to Burn" is a perfect song that kicks you out from the bed in the morning and pumps adrenalin in the club at night.

4. Vampire Weekend, "Hannah Hunt" - Known as the Vampire Weekend's best song ever, "Hannah Hunt" features the beautiful voice of the band's vocals Ezra Koenig and vivid lyrics that will captivate its listeners. The song if from the band's third studio album "Modern Vampires of the City," released o May 14.

3. Kanye West, "Black Skinhead" - From Kanye West's sixth studio album "Yeezus," "BLKKK SKKKN HEAD" was released as the first single of the album. Five months after it's released, West worked on its music video and released its remix featuring Miley Cyrus on Aug. 25.

2. Lorde, "Royals" - Irresistible and radical, "Royals" was written by Lorde and Joel Little in half an hour, a "response to everything that's on pop radio." Released for sale on March 8, the song is the lead single from extended play "The Love Club EP."

1. Daft Pun feat. Pharrell and Nile Rodgers, "Get Lucky" - From the French house music duo Daft Punk, "Get Lucky" was featured in a television advertisement broadcast during "Saturday Night Live" before it was released. With its vintage and futuristic sound, the songs feature a lot of twists and a kind of pop that the whole world could agree on. "Get Lucky" topped song charts in 55 countries and was covered by a lot of artists.
