Ronda Rousey Teams Up With Sister In Writing A Memoir, 'My Fight/Your Fight'
Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, women's bantamweight division champion Ronda Rousey is again expanding her horizons by penning a memoir with her sister. The book, which will detail the journey of the 27-year-old fighter from her development as judo prodigy to her full-blown superstardom as the face of the UFC, is set to hit book shelves by May 2015.
Publishing house Regan Arts announced via the Associated Press Tuesday that Rousey will be collaborating with her sister, Maria Burns Ortiz, in penning the memoir titled, "My Fight/Your Fight." It is still unclear if the childhood years of the biggest draw of the UFC will be covered in the book, but it is safe to say that the pages will be filled with her experiences from her winning the Olympic bronze medal in Athens, Greece in 2004 up to her household recognition upon winning fight after fight in the Octagon.
"Everyone has their own fight," Rousey said in the official press statement first reported by MMAFighting.com. "Through my journey to become the greatest fighter in the cage, I learned the concepts to conquer every battle outside of it. Hopefully readers can learn the same lessons I did -- without having to take as many punches in the face."
The statement is a direct admission that Rousey is on track to become one of the greatest fighters in the Octagon. True to form, 2015 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years for the reigning undefeated champion as she is set to defend her title once again against Cat Zingano, the heavily regarded number two pound-for-pound fighter in the mixed martial arts world. Aside from that, Rousey is set to continue her Hollywood career by appearing in the seventh instalment of the "The Fast and the Furious" series, which will come out in the summer, and she will also be involved in a limited role in the "Entourage" the movie.
The upcoming book by Rowdy will cement the versatility of the California submissions artist. Regan Arts Chief Executive Officer Judith Regan attested to Rousey's mixed bag of talents, saying that the soon-to-be writer is a winner due to her dedication in everything that she puts her mind and heart into.
