Rory McIlroy Says Winning Form Down To Break-Up With Caroline Wozniacki
World no. 1 Rory McIlroy revealed that his current winning form is due to his break-up with the tennis former world no. 1 Caroline Wozniacki. McIlroy's career has been roaring to victory since the split up and he claimed that he is in a better place now.
The power couple, McIlroy and Wozniacki had a public romance and a New Year's Eve proposal in Australia last year that didn't last for long because the professional golfer called off the wedding via phone call to the tennis ace.
Their engagement broke off after five months after the wedding invitations were issued that made the 25-year-old golfer realise that he wasn't ready for a marriage just yet.
Ever since the break-up, the Northern Irishman's career flourished as he won four tournaments, which include the British Open and the US PGA Championship. Although McIlroy also publicly said that the break-up with Wozniacki is behind his recent winning form and it was for the best in terms of his career, he feared that the split might hurt his performance this year.
"Mentally, I am just in a far better place," McIlroy told reporters at the 96th US PGA Championship in Kentucky. "'I've put a bit more time into it and it has refocused me."
Just recently, a GIF flooded the Internet portraying McIlroy and Sergio Garcia who were laughing at Wozniacki's clip taken from the US Open wherein her hair tangled in her racquet, while playing against Aliaksandra Sasnovich. On the other hand, for whatever it's worth, Wozniacki also took to the social media saying it's good to wear high heels again, which is an obvious dig to McIlroy.
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy is in a legal battle against his former management company, Horizon Sports. The 25-year-old alleged that his Ryder Cup teammate Graeme McDowell is receiving more favourable contract terms from Horizon Sports although he was promised to have same deal with McDowell.
McIlroy and McDowell have remained friendly despite the legal skirmish but it is still to be determined whether the two will remain as partners at the upcoming Gleneagles next week.
