The Royal Family Welcomes: Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge [PHOTOS]
Without further ado, we announce the arrival of little Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, son of the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William. The proud parents announced the name of their first born through a statement at the Kensington Palace just two days after the birth of the prince.
The statement released the palace states: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge."
According to experts on name choices, Pamela Redmond Satran who founded Nameberry, an online website that provides names for new parents said that the name "George" is very befitting for the new born prince since many kings have been named George over the centuries.
Other name experts say that the baby's middle name holds importance as well. if the child were a girl, she would more likely be named "Alexandra" and since the child is a boy he was name "Alexander". Co-founder of Namesberry, Linda Rosenkrantz mentioned that
"And the name Louis was likely chosen to commemorate Lord Louis Mountbatten, a close friend and mentor ofPrince Charles who was assassinated by Irish terrorists in 1979."
