The St. James Palace has announced today that the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton will be streamed live on YouTube on the big day at London’s Westminster Abbey.

Noting that this will be the first royal event to be streamed live on YouTube, the upcoming union will allow people from all walks of life from all over the world to witness the much anticipated wedding of the century.

According to the office of Prince William the move to have the wedding streamed live on YouTube follows the wishes of both the future king and his future bride in making their wedding “as accessible as possible for as many people as want to participate”.

A report by the Agence France Presse said the live feed also includes the journey of the royal couple to and from the Westminster Abbey on the big day. It is expected to also show the entire ceremony and their appearance on the balcony of the Buckingham Palace after their service followed by the military flypast.

The Palace has also prepared an official video called “wedding book” which will also be shown on YouTube. The said video invites the public to submit video congratulations if they wish to.

The AFP also said that the Royal officials ‘would provide a live blog’ complemented with historical information and other details about the royal wedding. This is the first time a blog is running along a live stream on YouTube noted the Palace officials.

An estimated 2 billion people are expected to have access to the wedding, an astounding increase in the number of people who were able to witness the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981 estimated at 750 million people.
