'Royals' Singer, Lorde Disses One Direction
Lorde's "Royals" is definitely topping the Billboard charts and beating a few strong opponents such as Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. By the looks of it, the fame and glory has got to Lorde's head that she's been dissing one celebrity to the next. Last week it was Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift, now Lorde has a few words for One Direction.
The New Zealand native is definitely getting a lot of attention after hitting the top spot on iTunes and the Billboard charts. However, Lorde is getting quite a lot of fan hate after her countless statements about other singers in the business. First up was Miley Cyrus where she questioned the "Bangerz" singers' realism before she dissed Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift.
Rather than feel guilty about her diss, Lorde stands firm by her statements. In an interview with MTV News, the "Royals" singer says she has "perfectly reasonable grounds" for her critique.
"I think there's a funny culture in music that's only happened over the last 15 years, that if you have an opinion about something in music that isn't 100-percent good, you're a 'hater,' even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique. People will say exactly what they think about a movie or a TV show, and that's fine, but as soon as you say it about a record, you're like some little zombie in a funny dungeon," stated Lorde.
"I have pretty strong morals and opinions being in pop music, and I can't help but express those, which I think people appreciate. I mean, I don't think I say anything that isn't backed up. Most of the time I will stand by things that I've said," continued the 16-year old singer.
Well, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez aren't the only singers Lorde has managed to attack. News has it that the "Pure Heroine" singer isn't much of a "Directioner."
"One direction are pretty overrated and their music isn't really good i find it odd they're famous," stated Lorde.
Aside from watching her back from "Swifties," "Smilers," "Selenators," and "Beliebers," Lorde now has to take a few more death threats and tweet heat from "Directioners."
