Ruby Rose returning to ‘Orange Is the New Black’ season 5; Stella Carlin may bring changes in prison
Ruby Rose may come back in Litchfield Penitentiary when “Orange Is the New Black” season 5 returns in June. Her character may cause some major changes in the prison as well.
The Australian actress has yet to confirm her return to the Netflix hit comedy-drama series. However, Rose is reportedly set to reprise her role as Stella Carlin in the fifth season. The actress is one of the fan favorites that made it big in Hollywood after appearing in the prison-themed series.
“She’s back together with all the girls on the show. They even went to Elton John’s Oscars Party together in March,” an insider told the Daily Telegraph. The publication added that Stella will appear later in the season and will bring an important shake-up for the inmates of the penitentiary.
Rose’s character was last seen talking to Nicky (Natasha Lyonne) in episode 6 of the previous season. Nicky successfully managed to stay away from drugs while inside the maximum security. Stella did not. Nicky then decided to cut ties with Stella after she found out that the tattooed inmate is still involved with illegal drugs.
Netflix dropped a teaser for “Orange Is the New Black” season 5 last week, but Rose was not seen in the promo. The actress' brief appearance in season 4, however, shone a glimmer of hope to fans that Stella might return next season.
So far, the OITNB stars confirmed to return in season 5 are Lyonne, Taylor Schilling (Piper), Laura Prepon (Alex), Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes) and Danielle Brooks (Taystee). Taryn Manning (Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett), Kate Mulgrew (Red) and Lea DeLaria (Big Boo) will also join the gang.
Meanwhile, Rose is set to appear in Jason Stratham’s sci-fi movie “Meg.” She will play the role of Jaxx Herd, an engineering genius and member of a marine research team. Jaxx's team is doing an underwater observation research in the Mariana Trench when they were trapped inside.
Statham will portray the role of former Naval captain and expert diver Jonas Taylor, who will perform a deep-sea mission to rescue the scientists under attack by a 70-foot creature. The movie, based on the novel of the same title, is expected to hit cinemas in March 2018.
Earlier this year, Rose starred in “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” alongside Vin Diesel and Nina Dobrev, and in “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” with Milla Jovovich. She also appeared in “John Wick 2” in February with Keanu Reeves.
“Orange Is the New Black” season 5 will start streaming on June 9 on Netflix US. In Australia, fans can catch the premiere on June 10 via Netflix Australia and on Foxtel's Showcase channel.
