Australia made it into the final round of the 2015 Rugby World Cup after defeating Argentina in the semifinal 29-15 on Monday. The Wallabies head to the final RWC fixture of this year as the clear underdogs, but Michael Cheika believes his side is not content by just making it into the final stage of the quadrennial rugby tournament.

Australia and New Zealand will face each other in the final round of the RWC 2015. The two nations have never met in a World Cup final matchup before, but their rivalry from the Rugby Championships and Bledisloe Cup has been transferred to the most electrifying rugby matchup of the year.

The Wallabies head into their clash with the All Blacks as the less favourite to win the Webb Ellis Cup, having beaten New Zealand just once since the RWC 2011, where the Kiwis won their second Rugby World Cup championship. Despite the match numbers disadvantage, Cheika is still confident the Wallabies have what it takes to upset the defending champions on Monday.

"Any match you play and you are playing for your country, you are going to be doing your best,” Cheika told The Star. “It's nice for all the supporters and everything but for us, its about getting our own stuff right.”

Australia brushed off roadblocks on their way to the final round of the RWC since Day 1, overcoming the “Pool of Death” and tough matchups against Scotland and surprise team Argentina in the quarterfinal and semifinal stages. New Zealand, meanwhile won all of their matches too, but their journey towards the last match of the tournament was merely a cakewalk, routing teams after teams. It might suggest that the All Blacks are truly superior in this year’s tournament, but Cheika understands every grueling match they had starting from the Pool stage would serve them well come kick-off time against the world No. 1.

"We’ve been pretty much going knockout every week since we got here,” Cheika said. “We understand we’ve got to play better, that’s part of it.”

Mike Colman of Fox Sports believes the Wallabies could pull up a win against the Kiwis in black. In one of Colman’s five reasons why Australia will win this year’s Rugby World Cup event, he noted that the Wallabies have improved a lot in this tournament, along with great performances from the team’s No. 8 David Pocock and Bernard Foley, who was the kicking hero of the match against the Scots.

Meanwhile, the Australian Rugby Union has placed a $300,000 bet with a local corporate bookmaker via a third party insurance firm to collect more than $3 million if Australia upset New Zealand. According to the Daily Telegraph, ARU has put the wager to cover the risk of paying out $3.3 million to the Wallabies.

ARU and the Rugby Union Players Association agreed earlier this year that each player will get $100,000 bonus on top of their annual salary and match payments if Australia hoist the Webb Ellis Cup this year.
