According to reports, comedian and actor Russell Brand can get $20 million from ex-wife-to-be Katy Perry as they did not sign a prenuptial agreement.

Last Friday, Russell Brand announced that he and singer Katy Perry is ending their marriage of 14 months. The comedian and ex-heroin addict released a statement saying, "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

Last October 23, 2010, the two tied the knot in an elaborate wedding ceremony in India. The papers were filed in Los Angeles, California where the law states that couples who did not sign a prenuptial agreement can be ordered to split their earnings in half.

Forbes magazine reports that Perry is worth at least $44m, while Brand is estimated to be worth around $15m. The success of Katy Perry and her latest album named her as the third highest paid female music artist in 2011.

According to TMZ, Brand's lawyers cited irreconcilable differences as the main cause of the divorce of the couple filed at the Californian Superior Court in Los Angeles. However, sources of Sunday Mirror reported that the two split up because of their disagreements over having a baby and Katy's constant partying.

It is reported that Brand would like to have a baby with Katy Perry. Brand is a former heroin addict and he made it no secret about his likeness of children. In an episode in "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last month, Brand said that he would like to have one baby as he like little children.

Similar with Brand's statement, Perry said that he would also like to have children with Brand. However, her constant partying and refusal to settle down in the household are some of the causes of the meltdown of their marriage. The source of the Sunday Mirror said that Perry does not want to be the typical Hollywood housewife.
