Russian Man Nails Testicles on Red Square Pavement, Plus Other Strange Protest Acts [VIDEO]
Red Square is witness to a number of historical events -from public executions to protests to military parades but a Russian man decided it was time to add some balls into the mix - his own. He is not alone, though. There are others who have pulled odd and incredible stunts to get the attention of their respective governments.
Russian artist Pyotr Pavlensky reportedly nailed his testicles to the cobblestones as a means of protest. Pavlensky said that he did the rather painful protest as a response to Russia becoming a "police state."
Pavlensky did his protest just in time for Police Day, a few days after the Ministry of Internal Affairs Choir released their cover of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky." Following are more odd protest acts.
Protesters in Brussels Squirt Milk From a Cow
Farmers who marched to Brussels to protest milk prices started spraying police officers with milk straight from the udders. Over 2, 500 farmers coming from across Europe blockaded the area right outside of the EU's headquarters in 2009. The jittery cow reportedly even chased a by-stander down the street according to the Telegraph.
Alice Newstead Hanging on Fish Hooks
For the love of sharks - 100 million of them caught by fishermen each year - Alice Newstead decided enough was enough. As a means of protest, she donned silver paint on her body so she'd resemble a shark and then asked some friends to hang her with large fishing hooks right at a store front window of Paris boutique Lush. The hooks were inserted in her skin. The rather painful stunt lasted for 15 minutes according to reports.
Man Chops Off Penis
An Egyptian man decided to take his protest to the extreme by chopping off his penis. The 25-year-old disagreed with imposed marriage and his parents's choice of whom he should marry.
It is said that the young man was in love with another girl but that his parents did not want him to marry her. His severed member could not be reattached, reports say.

An Iraqi journalist famously threw his footwear at George W. Bush during a press conference on December 14, 2008. According to the BBC, he shouted at Bush when he threw his first shoe saying, "This is a farewell kill from the Iraqi people, you dog." As he threw the other shoe, the journalist is believed to have said, "This is for the widows and orphans and all those killed in Iraq."
