Russian Police Choir’s 'Get Lucky' Put Daft Punk to Shame?
The Russian Police Choir’s video has gotten the attention of netizens over the weekend following a release of the Russian Army Choir’s cover of Adele’s song “Skyfall.”
The Russian Police Choir, officially known as the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Choir, sang Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” in their video. While some of the top brass were reportedly unimpressed by the Russian Police’s musical talents, some officers sang along. Viewers can see in the video that some of the top brass were entertained by the rendition.
The Russian police force now have fans the world over according to sources and Huffington Post says that “it’s true, the Russian Police are up all night to get lucky.”
While some YouTube users say the rendition was “gay” and that it is possible that the singers “did not understand the meaning of the song,” many users were entertained by the Russian Police’s “Get Lucky”.
The video now has 1,266,026 as of Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013. Around 1, 000 YouTube users however clicked on the thumbs down button apparently not liking the cover. The good news is, 21,852 like the rendition and many claim to have watched it more than once.
In what is rumoured as a preparation for an event at the Kremlin last weekend, the Ministry of Internal Affairs Choir releases a video of “Get Lucky” on Nov. 8, 2013 and it’s complete with rather random smoke effects. The police officers were also dancing but this was limited above the waist.
Those who haven’t watched the video however should not be fooled by the “special effects” because the men in uniform are good with their falsettos.
The Russian Army Choir singing Adele’s “Skyfall” made some people forget about all those Russian villains in the James Bond franchise but the “Get Lucky” cover of the police made a few YouTube users say that the cover is “Cool, great” and “awkward.”
Other YouTube users say the cover of the Russian Police is “better than the original.”
