New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson is devastated over losing his girlfriend of two years, Gia Allemand. The player issued an emotional statement grieving his loss.

"I'm deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends and fans," he said in the statement. "Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile. She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed. All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith and love that we shared."

Gia Allemand made a name for herself as a model who had TV appearances in ABC reality programs The Bachelor and Bachelor Pad. She was only 29.

Findings revealed that Gia's death was an apparent suicide attempt.

Ryan Anderson found his girlfriend unconscious at her house in New Orleans and immediately called 911.

The call from Anderson prompted emergency medical crew to arrive quickly on the scene, but was not able to save Gia who was brought to the University Hospital in New Orleans and was put under life support. Gia remained in a bad shape on Tuesday. Because her condition did not improve and she lost critical brain and organ function, her family decided to take off the life support.

Ryan Anderson was reportedly one of the people who stood by Gia and her family all throughout this ordeal. He was there when Gia took her last breath.

After her disappointing stint on the Bachelor, wherein she did not get her dream man, she met Anderson, who was then playing for the Orlando Magic. She was a model then and working on a photo shoot set in the Bahamas. They ended up hanging out together every minute, the bubbly model shared. She went on and participated in Bachelor Pad series later, where she appeared in seven episodes.
