Ryan Giggs' less than impressive performance affected Saturday's EUFA title match
Despite predictions of Gigg's obdurate concentration towards winning the EUFA Champions League title for his team Manchester United, it wasn't enough to secure the victory against defending champs Barcelona. In the match held at Man U's home court Wembley stadium, Barcelona emerged victorious with a 3-1 lead secured by a power line-up lead by Lionel Messi and Victor Valdes.
In past days, Giggs has been the topic of controversy with his alleged affair with Imogen Thomas, and the stress of it all was evident in Gigg's disappointing display. With a curt one-two ball exchange with Wayne Rooney who scored the single goal for Man U, Giggs wasn't able to stand up to his previous performance on the most important game for the team. With Giggs' agile contribution, Man U has been performing impressively in Barclay's Premier League, but being on top of the standings didn't help stifle the remarkable World Champs Barca from winning the UEFA title.
According to post-game reviews, Giggs might have been "offside" during the approach play when he finally got control of the ball towards the end of the first half. Giggs struggled with David Villa's concentration to goal taking its form as he took possession of the ball 20 yards out, aiming for a shot near the top corner. Another one of Giggs' problems were Lionel Messi's valor, which grew evident early in the game.
Giggs has yet to release his comments about the failed match, with early assumptions that his gagging order contributed to his sad display. On a positive note, the crowd remained true to the soccer spirit as they kept themselves from humiliating Giggs during the game. This year's UEFA Champions League win is Barcelona's fourth European title, with an almost similar 2-0 win in 2009 same League finals against the Man U squad.
