Australian actor Ryan Kwanten was named "Man of the Year" by GQ Australia. Kwanten is the fourth Australian male to be awarded the title, in the annual event's four-year run.

GQ Australia said the Australian actor starring role in the HBO vampire series True Blood has made Kwanten one of Australia's most significant exports. In the new issue of GQ Australia, Kwanten shows his humility by his astonishment on standard practice in Hollywood, where two celebrities hook up to promote their projects.

"I don't know about any of this," said the Australian actor. "Occasionally I get paparazzi, like this week when I finished yoga, there were 10 waiting outside.

"But I'm not very newsworthy. I'm still a very private person. I want to leave all the drama in my life on the set.

"I'm not going to call my publicist from a restaurant and say, 'I'll be leaving at 7.57. Make sure there's a photographer outside.' Giving my life up like that would be taking a little bit of my soul. I think some people think they're constantly on show. I don't want to live like that."

The 33-year-old actor was also previously featured in the magazine's biennial issue "Man Power: The Australian Male Comes of Age" last September. In the issue, the Australian actor said he likes playing Jason Stackhouse in the True Blood and told GQStyle that portraying Sookie Stackhouse's brother is "liberating.

Kwanten's film Red Hill opened with $110,000 last weekend in Australia. In the movie, Kwanten plays Shane Cooper a young police officer who had relocated in the small country town of Red Hill, with his pregnant wife to start a family. He must survive his first day on the job when convicted murderer Jimmy Conway escapes from prison and returned to Red Hill to avenge on its law enforcement officer. The movie gained favorable reviews from critics.
