Lupita Nyong-o's performance in the critical movie "12 Years a Slave" definitely made jaws drop but it seems that the Kenyan raised beauty has the similar effect on the red carpet. The actress snagged the award for Best Supporting Actress at the Screen Actors' Guild Awards, besting Jennifer Lawrence of "American Hustle", Julia Roberts of "August: Osage County", June Squibb of "Nebraska" and Oprah Winfrey for "The Butler's."

Famously acclaimed for her role as Patsey, a liked but abused slave in the film, this is not the first time for the actress to snag awards for such impeccable portrayal of the role. Nyong-o starred alongside fellow nominee for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in Leading Role, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Sherlock main guy Benedict Cumberbatch and Brad Pitt who was also the producer of the movie.

Jennifer Lawrence who went up against the Kenyan beauty was delighted to see the "12 Years A Slave" actress backstage, as the two hugged and snapped photos of each other. Jennifer Lawrence recently bested Lupita in the Golden Globes for her portrayal of an unsteady wife of a con man in "American Hustle."

Meanwhile, Emma Thompson pulled a photobomb on the actress whilst on the red carpet, after planting a kiss on Nyong-o. Lupita garnered the same reaction from Thompson and Lawrence, a jaw dropping facial expression after seeing the beauty strut the red carpet in a turquoise Gucci gown with an intricate flower ensemble. Lupita finished her look with Christian Louboutin, a Monica Rich Kosann clutch and Fred Leighton jewelry.

The toned actress' impressive performance in "12 years a Slave" managed to get the star a nomination for the Oscars and BAFTA. Lupita also snagged awards at the New Hollywood Award and Critic's Choice Movie Awards.

Lupita was gracious in accepting her award, thanking her Director Stephen McQueen saying "for taking a flashlight and shining it underneath the floorboards of this nation and reminding us what it is we stand on'. It seems like Lupita made the right decision as the director was said to have offered the role to the star prior to her graduation from Yale University.
