Summit Entertainment, the makers of the "Twilight" film franchise, is filing a lawsuit against a retailer selling a jacket advertised to be worn by Bella Swan, the character played by actress Kristen Stewart.

The studio on Friday sued fashion designer BB Dakota for copyright and trademark infringement.

BB Dakota's marketing strategy to sell the blue cotton canvas jacket is posted on the company's website. The irresistible product pitch says: "Bella Swann (sic) wears this jacket in Twilight and scores the hottest vampire in high school, and so can you!"

When the jacket debuted in 2008, Women's Wear Daily described it as "the stuff that legends are made of." MTV's web site said it "brings you this much closer to Robert Pattinson." Stylist.com suggested it was "love at first bite, er, sight." And SoJones.com labeled it as "very vampirelicious."

For more proof, Entertainment Weekly did a vignette on how the jacket got into the first film. Apparently, Stewart was supposed to wear a brown hoodie, but blue was thought to better match Stewart's brown hair. Costume designer Wendy Chuck hurried to Nordstrom and picked something off the rack. Director Catherine Hardwicke said: "Wendy saved the day!"

In the lawsuit, Summit wants any further sale of the item to be prohibited, be given all profits earned from the jacket and wants BB Dakota to "deliver to Summit for destruction all Bella Jackets."
