After the privilege and pleasure of working with Benicio del Toro as dangerous cartel members in the film "Savages," Mexican actress Salma Hayek reportedly declared her admiration for the Puerto Rican actor.

During a BBC Radio 1 interview, Salma Hayek admitted that Benicio del Toro has always been famous in their acting school because he is one of the hot guys.

"We went to acting school together. Benicio was one generation above me. He was famous even in school. You know there are always two or three guys that are the stars and they're the hot guys of the school. Benicio was even one of them back then," Hayek revealed.

In "Savages," Benicio del Toro portrays a sadistic Mexican character named Lado. As part of the preparation for the role, the actor confessed that he had a scary yet very helpful encounter with real ex-cartel drug members.

He claried, however, that he was not the one with the connections to the former drug cartel members that he and the other cast members met in Mexico and Los Angeles. He was just introduced to them to get a real feel of their character and personally ask them questions.

"We met some people down there in Mexico, we met some people in LA Los Angeles too, on both sides of this war on drugs, and it was very interesting, very informative for the preparation of the characters," Del Toro shared in Heraldsun.com.

According to Benicio del Toro, he was startled upon hearing reports that he had some connections as he took film director Oliver Stone to Mexico in order to personally meet the ex-cartel drug members there.

"Savages" hits Australian cinemas on October 18.
