English actress and director Samantha Morton revealed shocking details about the sexual abuses she had to endure while she was still a young teenager in an interview.

In an exclusive interview with the Guardian, the actress recalls the ordeal she had to face when she was only 13 and was put up in Nottingham Children's services. Morton claimed that she was sexually exploited by two care workers during her stay at the place. Despite reporting the matter to other social workers and even the police, no investigation was ever conducted against the two accused.

The 37-year-old Golden Globe and Academy Award winning actress recalled how she spent her entire childhood in children's welfare homes. She shared her awful experiences and heartbreaking memories in these places, citing the continuous sexual abuse she suffered in the hands of the social workers.

In her interview, Morton said that the authorities ordered her to transfer abruptly to other places following her complaints rather than taking any action against the accused. Police also had never given much attention to the formal complaints she filed. Furthermore, she shocked to find out recently that the records of her complaints were never taken seriously by the investigators. She learned that the police only referred to her sexual abuse complaints as 'frolicking'.

"I asked them what that meant. No answer", the actress shared. "I said I didn't remember saying that and I can't imagine saying that at 13 ... Even now it's not something I would say," she added.

The actress' revelations bolstered the appalling report by Prof. Alexis Jay that became public recently. The report indicated that approximately 1,400 children in Rotterham were sexually abused from 1997 to 2013. Gang rape and trafficking of young girls into other parts of the country has been a big problem in South Yorkshire town, the said report claimed.

The actress also stated her belief that these cases are not limited to Rotherham. Based on these revelations from the actress, three other homes where she had stayed during her childhood also had the same issue. In her rough estimate, Morton thinks that almost 90% of children in these homes were subjected to sexual abuses.

The Independent cited that Morton had a troublesome childhood with her father, who was sent to prison frequently. Her mother had to look after her nine siblings while her step father also had serious criminal background. These circumstances caused the actress to be declared a 'ward of court' and was sent to foster homes at the age of seven.
