CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.4 KitKat is now available for the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 which contains all the original CyanogenMod features and goodies from the latest Android KitKat.

New CyanogenMod 11 for Galaxy Ace 2

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 never received any more software updates after Android 4.1 Jelly Bean after its software support expired. Fortunately, CyanogenMod developers provided a new firmware which runs the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat to the mid-range smartphone. It has been posted at NovaFusion with release date 20140623.

Requirements

1. Create a manual backup of all personal data and personal settings on the Galaxy Ace 2.

2. Battery level should be at least 50 per cent to prevent power interruption.

3. Enable USB debugging mode on the smartphone. Go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging.

4. Root the Galaxy Ace 2 smartphone and install a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod recovery.

5. Download the necessary USB drivers for Galaxy Ace 2 on the computer.

6. Download the CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.4 KitKat and the Google Apps package to the computer.

Flashing Instructions

1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 to the computer via USB cable.

2. Copy and paste the CyanogenMod 11 custom ROM and the Google Apps package to the microSD card of the smartphone. Do not extract the zip files.

3. Disconnect the smartphone from the computer then switch it off.

4. Reboot the device into Recovery Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons at the same time.

5. Inside the Recovery Mode, create a nAndroid backup of the current ROM. Select "backup and restore > backup" to make a copy of the ROM which you may restore anytime by using the same method and selecting "restore."

6. Now, perform a full wipe on the device by selecting "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" then select "advanced > wipe Dalvik cache."

7. Install the CyanogenMod 11 by selecting "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > select the ROM zip file > confirm its installation." Apply the same with the Google Apps package.

8. After the installation, go back to the main menu and select "reboot system now." It may take at least five minutes before the device reaches the home screen.

If the device is stuck on a boot loop, remove the battery then reinsert it. Reboot into Recovery Mode and perform a full wipe as detailed above then proceed with the installation.
