Owners of the Samsung ATIV S expecting to get Windows Phone 8.1 update should know that the firmware is currently limited to specific regions. A source revealed that one of these specific regions includes Austria and it is unknown when will it arrive to network carriers and other areas.

WindowsCentral reported that the official Windows Phone 8.1 update is only seeding to a limited number of users in specific regions that includes Austria. Windows Phone 8.1 update for Samsung ATIV S has a build version of 14157 and firmware version 2424.14.9.3.

In addition to limited users in specific regions, not all network carriers are also receiving the official Windows Phone 8.1 update for the smartphone. As of now, Samsung has made no announcements yet if the update will be released in other territories.

Alternate Method On How Get The Windows 8.1 Update For Samsung ATIV S

Forums at WindowsCentral revealed that downgrading the Samsung ATIV S to install the Preview for Developers OS release can give the Windows Phone 8.1 update. However, it is not recommended to do so since many have experienced issues with the camera and other functionalities and a user must determine the right Samsung firmware in the right region before performing a downgrade.

As of this moment, Samsung ATIV S I8750 with ATO configuration is the only model receiving the official update that is mostly found in Austria. Consumer Software Customisation designated the configuration with TGY for Hong Kong and OXA for an unbranded U.K. variant.

Users can check the CSC by installing the Samsung Diagnosis app by typing ###634# on the phone dialler. Diagnosis app will be located under the App List and typing *#321647335 in the Diagnosis app will reveal the CSC code.

But for the sake of the device's safety, use the standard method of checking for updates by going to Settings > Phone Update. Performing a downgrade on the smartphone and installing the Preview for Developers release is only recommended to those with advanced knowledge on the matter. Simply check for updates every day and be patient till it reaches your area.
