Samsung Galaxy Gear Goes On Sale in Australia, Oct 3.; Curved Glass Tech Underway
Samsung Galaxy Gear, companion device for Samsung Galaxy Note 3, goes on sale in Australia, Oct 3. for an RRP of $369.00, according to an official announcement from Samsung.
"GALAXY Gear represents an exciting step for Samsung in pioneering innovation that provides users with a meaningful experience and offers greater freedom when using our mobile technology. We feel GALAXY Gear will completely change the mobile technology landscape and we're extremely proud to deliver the device to Australians just weeks after it was announced globally," stated Tyler McGee, Vice President - Telecommunications for Samsung Electronics Australia.
Samsung Galaxy Gear operates as a companion device to the Galaxy Note 3 when the two gadgets are in close proximity with each other. This feature is made possible through the Bluetooth technology. Users can make calls, utilize supported mobile apps and take snapshots through the Samsung Galaxy Gear Camera.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear is made available in six colours - Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold and Lime Green.
Meanwhile, Lee Young-Hee, executive vice president for marketing said that the Galaxy Gear is "definitely receiving warm response."
However, one of the company's officials admitted that the Galaxy Gear lacked something special.
"We've acknowledged that our Gear lacks something special. With more investment for user interface and user experience, Samsung devices will be better in terms of customer satisfaction," the official remarked during the press conference.
Samsung is also proud to announce that the company is underway in releasing a smartphone with a curved and bendable display on October.
"A new smartphone that features curved glass technology will be released in October, initially in Korea. We will hold a press conference to reveal the specifications of the product and our mobile business strategy. This is part of our efforts to develop devices that haven't existed before" Samsung's president for strategic marketing, Lee Don-joo, announced during the press conference.
