Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi already have official pre-release firmware running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with major UI changes and smoother feel. But there are at least three flagship devices needed to be updated with Android 4.2.2; so where is the pre-release firmware for Galaxy Note 2?

Pre-Releases for Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 8.0

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the partner of Galaxy S3 in 2012 which acted as both flagship devices of the Samsung Galaxy line, however, Galaxy Note 2 pre-release firmware is still nowhere to be found and yet Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi already have one.

SamMobile posted the pre-release updates for Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi, leaving Galaxy Note 2 all alone. Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi was released this year 2013 and should have received a pre-release after Galaxy Note 2 got its own; unfortunately, the larger Note seemed to be more important because of the Apple iPad Mini.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Left Alone

According to earlier reports, Android 4.2.2 update from Samsung will include Galaxy S4 UI and exclusive applications among compatible devices. Galaxy Note 2 in terms of technical specifications can run the redesigns implemented in Galaxy S4. It is unclear why Galaxy Note 2 remains alone without any pre-releases of Android 4.2.2 while owners of Galaxy S3 and Note 8.0 can now enjoy their sample firmware.

Owners should be Patient Then?

Pre-releases do not only signify tease but also indicates progress which will lead to sooner release dates. Reports say that the official updates will be released to owners sometime in July to September 2013.

Samsung Galaxy S3 received a pre-release firmware back in May and now rumoured to get an official stable in July 2013. Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi variant got a pre-release recently which points possible official push in August 2013. If we are going to follow this pattern, Galaxy Note 2 pre-release may leaked in August then later pushed to owners by September 2013, fulfilling the "sometime in July to September 2013" schedule.

Although it is disappointing, users of Galaxy Note 2 does not have to wait till 2014 just to receive the official update since Galaxy Note 3 will be announced this year and more Galaxy devices are almost getting upgrades every day.
