Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Smartwatch Reveal Date September, Galaxy Golden Slated to be First Dual-Screen Flip Phone
September may be the month to see Samsung shine, as it will be releasing not just one but two products, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the smartwatch.
Putting everything into consideration--the rumoured specs, the trend for revealing the Galaxy Note every September for two years in a row, and the fact that Apple may also use the chance to reveal its own device--the chance of Samsung revealing its latest handset, the Galaxy Note 3 proves to be very high.
Geek.com reports that the two days before the official IFA 2013 event in Berlin would allow Samsung an edge over its competition, as reports have started to trickle in that Apple may be aiming for a September 10 reveal of its iPhone 5S.
This traction could imitate what Samsung has enjoyed last year, wherein it released to a day before the actual event, and Samsung does have a reason for this, as its Samsung Galaxy Note 3 seems to be boasting some pretty good specs: a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with pixel resolution of 1920x1080, the Android 4.3, and a 13-megapixel rear camera.
What's more, Samsung may also be looking to use the IFA 2013 as a means to showcase its already confirmed smartwatch. According to Pocket-Lint, Samsung has already given official word that the smartwatch is coming as early as March of this year, and the IFA 2013 is the perfect venue, as this can also be where Apple would show off their version of the wearable technology.
Dubbed to be the Samsung Gear, the smartwatch has previously rumoured to have a black and white display. The report also adds that previous leaked images have shown the watch to have a large time display, a mail app, and a music app, possibly to sync it with whatever Android device the owner has.
Samsung Galaxy Golden: Impractical or innovative?
Samsung has been at its prime in terms of innovation as it continuously aims to compete with Apple for the title of the giant in mobile device industry. And with this aim comes Samsung's ever-present goal of tapping into markets that have not yet been explored before.
Enter the new rumoured device called the Galaxy Folder/Galaxy Golden. Touted to be a prototype for being the first flip phone that has a dual screen, Samsung seems to be trying to bring back the old flip phone way before touch screens became the next big thing, but adding the factor of two screens, both touch-allowed.
In fact, it seems to be more than just a prototype in production phase, as press images have already been leaked online. According to T3, this design may have a specific market on its own, with the report claiming that the Galaxy Golden is slated to release in Korean markets for the meantime, with no word yet on whether it will be made available for the rest of the world.
Some of the other features and specs rumoured to come with the touchscreen flip phone include a Snapdragon 400 1.7 GHz dual-core chip, 2GB or RAM, a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, and 4G LTE connectivity capability. T3 adds that the device runs on the Android 4.2.2 and has a 1920mAh battery.

How it can turn towards innovation
In terms of its insides, it is hardly very innovative or different from what is already in the market, but according to Tech News World, it could be Samsung's way of differentiating the design of its phone to every other brand. After all, where else have you seen a flip phone with two touchscreen displays in the midrange department?
In an interview with Tech News World, Glyde CEO Drew Lieberman said, "The fact that Samsung is staking a claim on touchscreens demonstrates it is not standing still while innovation is happening around it. From the data we have on consumers, we see this as a smart move and one that has the ability to make a specific set of consumers happy."
The report also brings up another channel by which Samsung could put the Galaxy Golden to the test: battery life. Having to power two screens at the same time can easily burn through battery life in a span of a day, which is why it can be a steppingstone for Samsung to see just where it can improve its battery and how.
