Samsung Galaxy Note SC-05D in Japan received an official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware update which was previously running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Japanese owners of the device can now enjoy all-new features to the biggest update so far.

Samsung Android 4.1.2 Update for Galaxy Note SC-05D

Samsung Electronics and NTT Docomo in Japan have pushed an official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Note SC-05D with firmware build version JZO54K.SC05DOMMSG. Previously, the device was only running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and almost left behind from other Galaxy Note variants released in other territories.

Owners of the Japanese Galaxy Note can update the device using Over-the-Air procedure or Samsung Kies PC suite installed on a computer using a USB cable.

Android 4.1.2 update includes the following new additions:

- Google Now

- Project Butter

- Expandable notifications

- S Pen support

- Add text and images on S Pen "easy clip"

- Add handwritten message in "photo notebook"

- Handwriting input for S Planner and Email application

- Spiral or grid display for gallery app

- New screen mode

- Removable of "Social Hub", "S Choice" and "Flash Player."

- Improved system performance

Updating Your Galaxy Note SC-05D

Updating the device using Over-the-Air procedure is very easy and convenient as long as your Galaxy Note is connected to the Internet. Simply go to "Settings > About device > Software updates." Select "Check for updates" and wait till the server prompts you. Be reminded to do the following before updating:

- Backup all personal settings, information and data files

- Battery level must be at least 50 per cent

- Download and update your device using a Wi-Fi connection instead of mobile Internet

- Connect the device to its AC power when updating

If your Galaxy Note is not connected to a wireless network but your computer does, use the Samsung Kies to update the device.

1. Go to the Samsung Web site and download the Samsung Kies software then install it on your computer.

2. Launch the Samsung Kies software.

3. Connect the Galaxy Note to the computer using a USB cable and let the software install drivers.

4. Samsung Kies will prompt you of an update available for the device. Follow the instructions including the backup procedure to safely protect data from being erased during the update.
