Samsung Galaxy S3 seems to be going nowhere with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update as the device remains running Android 4.1. The former Samsung flagship phone is also suffering fragmentation issue with Android 4.2.2. What could be the reasons why its official update continues to be delayed?

1. Fragmentation Issue on Android 4.2.2

Samsung Galaxy S3 is facing fragmentation issue on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean according to various reports. Fragmentation problem may be affected by the TouchWiz integration running Android 4.2 on the smartphone. Some rumours have spread indicating disqualification of Galaxy S3 to run the latest TouchWiz from Samsung, however, the device is equipped with quad-core processors and 1 GB of RAM which make the device capable of using the software.

2. Hardware Incompatible

Aside from the fragmentation issue of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, another aspect under check is the possibility of hardware incompatibility on the latest Samsung software. Before Samsung can make their own software upgrade, the company needs to get the source code of Android 4.2.2 stock release which could be a major glitch on Galaxy S3. The third generation of Galaxy S line boasts 1.4GHz quad-core Cortex A9 CPU, Exynos 4412 quad chipset and Mali-400MP GPU with 1GB of RAM.

3. Android 4.3 Released

When Google released the latest Android version, 4.3 Jelly Bean, it has been expected that Samsung will go forth and skip Android 4.2.2 to save time and effort. Rumours point out that the maker will go straight on Android 4.3 which also features all things found on Android 4.1 and 4.2. Unfortunately, Samsung didn't confirm any rumours that they are implementing update changes to Android 4.3.

4. Bad Luck of Galaxy S4

Even Galaxy S4 is selling like hotcakes; the sales figure of the 2013 Android flagship smartphone of Samsung is only satisfactory and only showed innovation through various software additions such as S Health apps. Technically, Samsung Galaxy S3 can run several applications found on Galaxy S4 based on a leaked Android 4.2.2 firmware.

5. Upcoming Galaxy Note 3 Launching

It is obvious that Samsung will concentrate on updating Galaxy S4 first with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and focusing on promoting the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 arriving in the IFA 2013 event. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 may be left in the dark with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean until such time Samsung is convinced to bring back their previous flagship smartphone to life.
