Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Official Android 4.2.2 Update Delayed Again Due to Galaxy S4 Sales & New Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
The upcoming Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for both Samsung Galaxy S3 & Galaxy Note 2 is reported to be delayed again and scheduled not earlier than November 2013. Factors such as the Galaxy S4 sales, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and K Build release date affected the update release date.
Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Update Delayed Once Again?
Owners of Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will have to wait until November or December 2013 for the release of the Android 4.2.2 update, depending on the situation of Galaxy S4. SamMobile initially revealed that the update delay is due to TouchWiz issues, but there are no confirmation released.
In May 2013, the Android 4.2.2 firmware for S3 leaked and it featured S4 exclusive applications. However, sales of the Galaxy S4 and the recent release of the Android 4.3 source code pushed the update for S3 and Note 2 from July to November 2013.
The disappointing sales of Galaxy S4 caused retailers and network carriers to promote low-cost deals and contracts for the handset, instead of eliminating the S3 from the inventory list. Samsung might use the Android 4.3 to boost S4 sales and eventually deal with the S3 update.
Android 4.3 and Android 5.0
The Android 4.3 also affects the update of S3 and Note 2 in terms of features. The Android 4.3 is rumoured to have Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi Always Scanning and new notifications bar. Samsung could either release Android 4.2.2 or Android 4.3 to S3 and Note 2. If the company decides on Android 4.3, expect to wait much longer.
Reports claim that S4, S3, Note 3 and Note 2 are all getting Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie; however, not all of them are receiving it at the same time. Samsung will need the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie to boost marketing for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3.
K Release Build
The K Release build has been reported as the next major Android update and assumed to be launched in October 2013. There is no confirmation if it is the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, but Google has already started developing the upcoming software.
Owners of S3 and Note 2 can surely expect the Android 4.2.2 update, but it requires some patience as the maker struggles with Galaxy S4 sales and new Android versions.
