Samsung Galaxy S3 Official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware Update to be Released as Early as July 2013?
Official Android 4.2.2 firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been fairly clear and owners of the smartphone can expect the update release as early as July 2013. The anticipated official update will bring all-new user experience and exclusive S4 apps to the Galaxy S3.
Official Update as Early as July
Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 are assured to receive the official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update before the end of 2013 and the exact date of its release is assumed between July to November. According to SamMobile which sources out most leaks about Android 4.2.2 builds for Galaxy S3 reported that the device is expected to receive the update as soon as July or August.
"Android 4.2.2 is still under testing phase by Samsung and they will release the official final Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 in July/August," stated by SamMobile.
The entire date considered by SamMobile covers the third quarter of 2013 which still a big timeframe without any confirmation from Samsung. However, other sources are backing up a considerable reason why Samsung may be delaying the release due to Galaxy S4 sales and upcoming Android 4.3 & Android 5.0 update.
Samsung TouchWiz Issue and Upcoming Android 4.3/5.0 Update
Initially, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update should have been released back in June but the TouchWiz being imported to S3 from S4 was experiencing technical issues. Experts believe that the UI made by Samsung shouldn't have any problems from getting imported since Galaxy S3 can actually run it in terms of hardware specifications.
However, TouchWiz UI from Galaxy S4 could be a little different compared to the S3 if incorporated with the same Samsung-specific features such as new voice and gesture commands. The maker could be dealing with compatibility and stability issue to import latest software-hardware related applications on Galaxy S3.
Another angle is the sought after Android 4.3 and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie coming this year. Samsung may release the update after they obtained a copy of the newest version of Android and divert consumers on the difference between Galaxy S3 running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Galaxy S4 with Android 4.3 or Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
Once both devices gain their respective updates, Samsung can boast Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 with all the latest Android experience available.
For now, owners of Galaxy S3 can get Android 4.1.2 updates from their network carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Bell and TELUS for minor bug fixes, multi-window feature and more. This update is available wirelessly through OTA or Samsung Kies PC Suite on your computer.
