Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S3 and Note 2 has been delayed due to issues involving Galaxy S4 sales and TouchWiz integration. However, a recent buzz points out skipping Android 4.2 update and direct jump to Android 4.3 or Android 5.0 software upgrade instead.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean

SamMobile information indicated that TouchWiz UI ported from Galaxy S4 to Galaxy S3 is now having integration issues and the 1GB RAM in S3 may not be enough to handle it. But Samsung didn't confirm if the porting method is encountering any problems.

Recently, the Android 4.2.2 firmware for Galaxy S3 leaked and it includes several changes in UI, apps and lock screen which only found in S4. Based on the early test build of the firmware, Samsung seems to be going smoothly with it. The leaked firmware consists of S4 lock screen, changes in several applications and home screen.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Sales

Samsung's latest flagship shipped 20 million units worldwide but that amount of shipment seems not sufficient for the company. Galaxy S4 targets domination over the marked Galaxy S3 left in the market. Shipments of S4 units are already beyond S3's time but ownership of the handset is still small compared to S3's record.

This is a possible reason why Samsung keeps on delaying Galaxy S3 update release to prevent consumers getting confused on buying S3 instead of S4 due to the same user interface if both devices are running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Skipping to Android 4.3 or Android 5.0?

Samsung can also choose which Android OS version should be used to update Galaxy S3. The company might insist to delay the next official update to give S3 owners advantage over Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or Android 5.0 Key Lime.

1. Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is a selling point for Galaxy S4 and differentiates itself from S3.

2. New features from the major software will drive Galaxy S4 to its maximum potential.

3. Galaxy S3 TouchWiz porting problems could be much easier done on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

4. Galaxy S3 owners will enjoy Android 4.3 Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi Always Scanning and new features not found on Android 4.2.2.

5. Major bug fixes come with the final Jelly Bean version and S3 owners can save time and effort updating their device once and for all.

6. Android 4.3 signifies Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie update for Galaxy S3.

7. Getting Android 4.3 on your Galaxy S3 also means that your device is almost future-proof and expected to last for another 2 or 3 years.

8. Samsung insider already listed Galaxy S3 as one of the confirmed device to get Android 5.0 Key Lime in the future.
