One of the much-anticipated smartphones to be released this year is the Samsung Galaxy S3. There are reports speculating that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be revealed around May, 2012 and it could grab the title as the world's thinnest smartphone.

Mr. Shin, the president for the mobile communication section of Samsung only gave a vague comment about the Samsung Galaxy S3 by stating that "Samsung may launch a 3rd version of its Galaxy S smartphone in the near future." So far, specific details about the Samsung Galaxy S3 have been vague but there are news reports stating that it will measure around 7mm thus making it the thinnest smartphone to date.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 would supposedly have a display size of 4.65-inch 1024p HD Super AMOLED Plus display with a SXGA resolution of 1280 x 1024. In terms of processor, it would have a speedier performance due to its ARM Cortex A9 2.0 GHz with RAM size of 2GB. Its camera features would also undergo a major improvement as it would reportedly utilize a 12MP or 16MP rear camera.

Aside from that, there is also a growing speculation that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be a 3D handset and it would also have features to support an HDMI port. This 3D feature would enable customers to view 3D films and games on its screen. This is not the first time 3D capability has been included in new smartphone models since LG and HTC also have smartphones offering 3D features. This smartphone will have the latest Android version which is Android 4.0 or Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) as its OS.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the follow up to the highly successful Samsung Galaxy S2. There is a high expectation for this smartphone as its predecessor has experienced worldwide success and recognition. If compared to the Samsung Galaxy S2, the "supposed" specifications of Samsung Galaxy S3 underwent a major upgrade as the processor became more powerful, the display more engaging, and the features more enticing to the market. The only problem regarding this smartphone is its release date.

Samsung has already confirmed beforehand that the company will not unveil this smartphone during the Mobile World Congress 2012. In line with this, there are rumors stating that the possible release date for the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be on March 22 in France. This information came about from FrAndroid, a French tech website. This release date seems to be a bit confusing as Samsung usually launch its power-house smartphones through a big event in New York.
