The upcoming Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS has been spotted running the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition and also works on one of the two variants of the flagship phone - the Snapdragon-powered version.

SamMobile obtained some screenshots of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS running on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition. The images spotted the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S4 GT-I9505G with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Based on the screenshots, the Android version is 4.3 and the build number is JWR66N.S005.130625. The JWR66N is the original build number while the S005.130625 is the Samsung addition to keep records of internal test build.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is still not officially released by Google, but this news signifies that OEMs have already gained access to the source code of the upcoming Android version. Early access and testing will eventually lead to faster software updates and less Android fragmentation among devices. Surely, flagship Android phones and Nexus family line will be the first ones to obtain Android 4.3.

Originally, the test build of Android 4.3 was designed to the Google Play Edition of Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I905G, which is treated as if it is a Nexus device, but the same firmware runs as well with the Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy S4. By all means, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition and the quad-core version may expect the update real soon before October.

Manufacturers are already gaining access to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and HTC may also have acquired the source code provided by Google to test their flagship device - the HTC One M7.
