Speculations are hard at work for the Nokia Lumia 928, while BlackBerry has just recently revealed that there will be a major update to keep its BlackBerry 10 OS up to speed and up for competition with the upcoming Android Key Lime Pie and iOS 7.

Samsung is also in the loop with the confirmation of its Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.

Nokia Lumia 928 up for April release?

It seems that many are expecting the Nokia Lumia 928 to get into stores as fast as possible, and even without the final confirmation from carrier Verizon, there have already been reports that the 928 model will have an April 25 release date.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, this is just one of the speculations milling around, along with the latest on the specs of the upcoming phone.

What has been discussed so far was that the Nokia Lumia 928 will have a thinner and lighter body compared to the already released 920, as well as an improved Xenon flash.

Whether the April rumored date is a reveal, a launch, or even a hoax remains to be seen, but if everything goes as planned, May will be a very busy month, as the Lumia 928 will gather momentum to battle it out in the smartphone arena with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, and iPhone 5.

BlackBerry delivers first major 10.1 update

BlackBerry has already released a previous update that fixed some bugs, but this time, it's gearing up for a major update that will refresh the OS and improve on some key features.

TechRadar reports that among the top improvements is the camera app, which will now include an HDR mode for better photos for both released BB10 phones.

Pin-to-Pin messaging will also be available in the BlackBerry Hub for encrypted messages that you can send to other BB10 users. App updates will also be made easier for checking, and a voucher code box suggest that BlackBerry is keeping tight competition with Apple and Google for in-retail offerings.

Digital Trends adds that unlocking the Z10 or Q10 is also now easier because you'll only be clicking on the power button, which is great for those who want to do away with swipes.

There's no confirmed date yet for the release of BlackBerry's update, but with the arrival of newer OS in the market, there's still time to further improve on the 10.1 update to keep the BlackBerry 10 OS up to par.
