The Android 4.4 KitKat update for LG G2 is set for release on Q1 of 2014. The LG G2 is the model on which the Nexus 5 Android 4.4 KitKat stock is based. The LG flagship device currently runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It is likely to skip Android 4.3, going straight to Android 4.4 KitKat.

The LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update release date is expected to further improve the flagship device even if it has already received positive feedback among users and product reviews. Beleived as a strong device, the LG G2 boasts of a 5.2-inch 1080p display and a Gorilla Glass 2 covering with super thin 0.1-inch bezels and 423 ppi.

The LG G2 also has a powerful quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.3GHz with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The device sports a 13 MP rear facing OIS camera and a 2.1 MP front facing one. It has an odd back button placement for volume rocker and power, including different features such as eye tracking, double tap and Qslide. The LG G2 is packed with 3,000 mAh battery and has 4G LTE capabilities.

The LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update release date is criticized by users, saying the launch lagged behind other carriers such as Moto X which already has the new OS and HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 which have the developer and unlocked editions of the OS. Carrier variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 are expected to get the Android 4.4 KitKat update in January 2014.

LG G2 users complain about the LG G2 skin which was described as "ugly and clunky." The hope that LG can sort out its UI and UX issues to improve performance and features inherent to Android 4.4 KitKat but it still remains to be seen.

The LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat release date is likely to coincide with other next-gen flagship devices such as the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5. It is not clear whether LG would have released a new flagship by then but it is likely to have the LG G Flex curved display smartphone internationally released. The LG D830 could be the next LG flagship but information about it is not enough so far.

LG won't look too good if it hasn't updated the LG G2 by then, especially with the earlier release of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4 KitKat. The LG G2 isn't too different from the Nexus 5 anyway and it should be easier for the device to get Android 4.4 KitKat.
