Developers of CyanogenMod custom ROM finally made Samsung Galaxy S4 compatible with the firmware. CyanogenMod 10.1 features Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, tweaking & customisation and less bloatware found in the stock ROM of Samsung Galaxy S4.

Steve "Cyanogen" Kondik made the latest CyanogenMod 10.1 run on Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. The first Galaxy S4 variant running CM10.1 is the T-Mobile version and he confirmed it in his Google+ page. See the actual screenshot below.

CM10.1 currently in development stage and going overdrive, which means as long as the firmware is running smoothly, the custom ROM will soon be ready and available for download. But Kondik jokingly said "Definitely not supporting the S4" in his page.

Back in March, rumours spread that the CyanogenMod team might not support Galaxy S4 and this speculation was eliminated by Steve Kondik with his announcement recently.

"Today was the first day I actually worked on CM for the device. Nearly everything works now," Steve Kondik posted on his Google+.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Unlocked Bootloader

As the CM10.1 for Galaxy S4 is still under development, users and enthusiasts of custom ROMs can use their patience to wait till the unlocked bootloader variants of the device arrives soon. Some of the networks carriers in the United States are going make the unlocked version available for consumers.

AT&T and Verizon are expected to release bootloader unlock Galaxy S4 for developers and users, allowing them to play and tweak with the smartphone. Security researcher Dan Rosenberg provided image of the successful unlocking of Galaxy S4 and he claims that the bootloader unlock is for AT&T variant while the tool for Verizon variant won't come out till the network carries releases the device.

Dan Rosenberg posted on his Twitter account displaying the successful unlocking and that he already finished the installation of a custom recovery on his S4. Soon, ClockworkMod and TWRP recovery will become available to Galaxy S4.
