The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is a new name in the rumour mill connected to the South Korean company's attempt at a metal-bodied device. However, there have been claims that what used to be the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime/Galaxy F may actually be this new lineup of smartphones from Samsung.

Sources obtained by Korean publications have been churning out more information about the Samsung Galaxy Alpha/S5 Prime/Galaxy F. This time, the reports circulate around Samsung's attempts at releasing a device that would be bigger than the latest iPhone. This may be an attempt for Samsung to steal the show in September, which is also the time that fans are expecting the iPhone 6 to make its debut.

Android Authority reports that this new iPhone competitor may actually be the Samsung Galaxy Alpha/Galaxy S5 Prime, complete in its metal-covered glory. Some of the features that have been obtained by the source include the device having a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display, the premium metal casing, and the Exynos 5 Octa Processor.

A thinner body compared to the Samsung Galaxy S5 has also been reported, while the source claims that at 6 mm, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime/Galaxy Alpha may even be thinner than the iPhone 5S.

For now, these should be seen as rumours, despite Samsung's patent for the name Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The metal-body device has been a longstanding rumour, which has never reached the light of confirmation since it first broke.

Galaxy Note 4's New Patent Spotted

Until now, most of what is known about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are mostly based on rumours and speculations, as the South Korean company remains mum of what fans can expect from the device.

However, a new patent filed in South Korea may point to some clues regarding the design of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Phone Arena reports that the patent is indicative of a thinner design, presumably for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

This is due to the additional detail that the patent also attributes to an S-Pen having sensors instead of a digitizer to make the screen thinner, a fact that was previously reported also for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The report adds that the plan for this is that the sensors will keep track of two-dimensional data and four sensors track three-dimensional data.

Considering that the use of sensors can trim down a device, this can be a good improvement from the Samsung Galaxy Note 4's predecessor. However, it should also be noted that a patent seen by this time of production may not necessarily reflect in the product that is also due for this year.

With September expected to be the venue to showcase the Galaxy Note 4, the use of sensors and the ability to create thinner displays may be reserved for the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
