Samsung has proven itself as the best smartphone with its features like big screen, high display and light plastic body. With the release of Samsung Galaxy S5, the handset will be popular for its best camera.

Photography experts at DxOMark cited Samsung's latest flagship smartphone was subjected to severe mobile image-testing process. The results came out with flying colors for Galaxy S5 as compared to other leading smartphones.

It has been tied for the no. 1 position with Sony Xperia Z2 with an overall score of 79 beating several camera phone leaders, including Nokia 808 PureView, iPhone 5s and Nokia Lumia 1020.

Galaxy S5 is the successor to Galaxy S4, which comes with 16 MP BSI CMOS sensor, F2.2 maximum aperture, 4K video capture and phase detection AF, but does not include an optical image stabilization system.

It is running Android 4.4 powered by the latest generation Qualcomm quad-core 2.5 GHz Snapdragon S801 processor and 2GB RAM. The Super AMOLED screen measures 5.1-inch and 1080p resolution and has a storage capacity of both 16 GB and 32 GB.

DxOMark reported Galaxy S5 can show images with "good auto-exposure, pleasant, rich and realistic colors, good white balance, low noise levels in low light conditions and good sharpness and details in the center of the frame. " It was found there was "almost no color fringing or ringing" and reviewers liked the "good image quality with flash."

The drawback of the camera was that the "noticeable loss of detail in low light conditions and non-uniform sharpness across the image field." It was also found the autofocus was not always accurate in auto mode.

The video mode of Galaxy S5 is the "best mobile video tested to date," which includes "good autofocus and good textures." But there are "visible color non-uniformities in some light conditions."

In comparison with iPhone 5s, it focuses faster and accurately, captures images with low noise and fewer artifacts while retaining the same high levels of details like its predecessor. But it has a strong luminance noise that appears in low light levels despite bigger sensor and larger f/2.2 optics.

Along with Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2, Nokia 808 PureView has also moved ahead of iPhone 5s.
