Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime May 2014: 64-bit CPU, Metallic Body, 2K Display, 4GB RAM, 16MP Camera
Samsung Galaxy S5 did not feature several rumoured changes such as 2K display resolution, metallic design and processor with 64-bit support. However, new reports detail that Samsung might release Galaxy S5 Prime that includes all those heavy features in May 2014.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime
New reports reveal that Samsung may still release formerly rumoured features of Galaxy S5 such as 2K display resolution, metallic design and processor with 64-bit support in a variant called Prime. According to Android Advices, a Russian tech blogger reported that a variant of Galaxy S5 would be coming soon that features premium material and hardware.
It is expected to be released on the market on May 2014 with the following technical specifications:
- 64-bit processor chipset, possibly Exynos Infinity
- 4 GB of RAM, possibly DDR3 DRAM memory chip
- 2K (2560 x 1440) display resolution
- Metallic frame made from aluminium
- Same 16 MP camera with Galaxy S5 original
Samsung's Denial on Premium Galaxy S5
A new Samsung device series line was also rumoured before the official launch of Galaxy S5 at Mobile World Congress 2014. This premium device line is called Galaxy F, featuring higher quality smartphones than flagship models however; Samsung denies that there is no Galaxy F line or Galaxy S5 Prime.
Samsung's chief executive office for mobile division J.K. Shin, told Korean media that there will be no other version of Galaxy S5 that is more premium than it is. Shin told the press that nothing else exists as premium as Galaxy S5.
However, based on the historical trend of Samsung Mobile on their flagship device per year, a Galaxy Note flagship always supersedes a Galaxy S flagship.
Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 are not equal in terms of features and specs that would probably happen again in 2014 with Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4. Check the differences below:
Specifications | Galaxy S4 | Galaxy Note 3 |
OS Version | Released with Android 4.2.2 | Released with Android 4.3 |
Processor (Exynos-octa) | 1.6 GHz quad-core Cortex A15; 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex A7 | 1.9 GHz quad-core Cortex A15; 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 |
RAM | 2 GB | 3 GB |
Battery | 2600 mAh | 3200 mAh |

Regardless of Samsung's denial of Galaxy S5 Prime aka Galaxy F line, we are still going to see Galaxy S5 Zoom and the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 which probably better than Galaxy S5.
