Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Hits Stores in July, Boasts 8GB Storage But Low Res
Samsung Galaxy Tab is expected to hit stores in July. With the specs and pricing released, the market is torn whether the new tablet is something to be excited about or not.
Samsung Galaxy Tab is 7 inches in size and will start shipping on July 7. Prices for the device start at $199. Considering the competition, the $199 for the tablet is reasonable especially when looking at the specs included. People looking for a basic tablet should be fine with the Galaxy Tab 3 but it falls short from competing with the major 7-inch tablets in the previous year.
The Galaxy Tab 3 offers 8GB storage but unfortunately it fails in the resolution part. The tablet has low resolution only set at 1,024x600-pixel resolution. Samsung's third Galaxy tablet is a few thousand pixels behind the Kindle Fire HD and the Nexus 7. The Kindle Fire HD and the Nexus 7 also both comes with 16GB to start with. Their prices begin at $199.
The one primary advantage of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is that it has plenty of features. It comes with a 64GB compatible microSD card slot along with an IR blaster. Users can control their television sets and other entertainment devices. Likewise, the new tablet also uses Watch On - this is Samsung's streaming video aggregator initially seen on Note 8.
Other features for the tab include a Marvell PXA 986 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 3-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera as well as Android 4.2. The Wi-Fi model will only be shipped in the United States so consumers in other parts will have to wait.
Samsung has been putting out all kinds of smartphones and tablets. An important concern is whether the company intends to put out something as groundbreaking as before. Saturating the market with improved versions without the "wow" factor can lead to unpleasant results.
