Samsung will limit the colour variants of the Galaxy S4 to black and white, likely ditching the colourful flavour mixes that partly made the Galaxy S3 a global hit, a new report said.

The new Samsung flagship, set for launch on March 14 in New York, will retail in six configurations, according to SamMobile, in which consumers can choose to snap up the S4 in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

All models will be sold in the classic black and white variants, the same report said, eliminating the choices that were previously available to Samsung fans.

It is unclear, however, if this is the uniformed approach of Samsung in distributing the Galaxy S4. Note that the South Korean firm is known to spice up its offerings to specific markets like when it released a red S3 for American buyers and a pink one for the Korean audience.

If the report is true, which is likely as SamMobile has build up a reputation of providing solid Samsung-related news, it could be that Samsung is simplifying its flagship line up for a still unknown reason.

Yet according to Gotta Be Mobile, Samsung appears to be mimicking Apple's style, jettisoning the screaming versions of its flagship handset to cut down on excesses en route to more stylish products.

The idea is for Samsung to project an aura of simplicity and class fitting for the tech giant that the company has become.

Rumours about the Galaxy S4 have been heating up following Samsung's confirmation that it hold a U.S. preview of its bestselling gadget a few days from now.

Stories are swirling that two editions will come out. American buyers of the S4 will get the Snapdragon 600-powered handset while the rest of the world will get to hold the Exynos-fired up version, believed to deliver better CPU performance with little energy requirements.

But SamMobile doused cold water on the speculation, insisting that Samsung is more attuned to use the quad-core 1.9GHx behemoth chip from Qualcomm.

At any rate, Samsung is all prepped for a spectacle on D-Day as it broadcasted that the Galaxy S4 launch, dubbed as Episode 1, will be seen simultaneously on New York's famed Times Square.
