Samsung Store: A Copycat of Apple Store in Sydney?
South Korea tech giant Samsung recently opened its electronics store in Sydney. It bears resemblance to the Apple Store a few blocks away.
The Samsung Store also has minimalist design, long tables at the middle of the store packed with smartphones attracting the customers to try out the device as well as sales staff wearing blue shirts.
It seems that Samsung is not only allegedly copying Apple's products' design and features but the design and layout of the stores as well.
The store is located at 450 George Street. It opened at 8am today.
Samsung Australia's vice-president of telecommunications, Tyler McGee, acted coolly and said that they did not give much thought in the location of the store.
"Well, if you look at our layout this is the layout that we use around the world and it's about basically giving the consumers the opportunity to interact, learn and play with our devices," McGee said.
Samsung also opened a Samsung Store in Vancouver, Canada as its first electronics store in North America. Samsung's strategy is placing stores in places where it has a strong hold in the market.
Apple, on the other hand, has 373 stores in 13 countries are booming, with global sales of $16 billion last year. The company sells more gear per unit area than any other retailer in the US.
Samsung's latest tablet, Galaxy Note 10.1, finally arrived in Australia this morning and consumers can get their hands on the new tablet. It is one of the main devices featured in the newly-opened store. The 16GB WiFi version - which has a stylus for writing/drawing and can run dual apps in split screen mode - is priced at $589.
Between the Apple Store and the Samsung Store, which will have a longer line later this year when the companies released their top devices?
