The testing for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean has began, and devices from 4.0 ICS going to Jelly Bean under the Galaxy tab 2 line up should received their updates in September 2013 if nothing goes wrong with the performance testing.

How to Install Android 4.2.2 Black Bean custom ROM on Galaxy Tab 2 7.0

Warning: This is a custom ROM, installing this will erase data on your device, make sure to create a backup file. Developers and owners of this custom ROM are not responsible for any damages which may occur on your tablet. Do this at your risk.

Requirements:

  • The device must be rooted and has a custom recovery application installed
  • Make sure that the battery level is at least 70 per cent to prevent power interruption

1. Download the Black Bean Custom ROM and the Google Apps package to your computer.

2. Connect the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to the computer via USB cable and copy the downloaded files to the device.

3. Switch the tablet off and disconnect it from the computer.

4. Reboot into Recovery mode. Press Volume up, Home, and Power keys simultaneously.

5. In Recovery mode, do a full data wipe and flash the update zip from the SD card.

6. Select the Android 4.2.2 ROM.zip and install it to the device. Do the same with Google Apps package.

7. Reboot the device after the installation.

8. The device will boot for at least 5 minutes considering its first time to run the ROM. Be patient.
