Samsung has stayed silent for quite some time as competitors release ultrabooks here and there. Today, the company has announced the follow up for their Series 9 Ultrabooks. Not just one follow up but two - Samsung unveiled their ATIV Book 9 Plus and the ATIV Book 9 Lite series.

The ATIV Book 9 Plus is a 13-inch flagship laptop that will replace the old Series 9. Additionally, the company will be releasing a Lite version. The 13-inch ultralite series has yet to prove itself as it does not seem to offer any more than its flagship counterpart.

The Plus runs on the Haswell processors core i5 and i7. It also has a 3,200 x 1,800 touch screen. Samsung also enhanced the trackpad and backlit keyboard on the Series 9 products. The ATIV 9 has a similar touchpad on the ATIV Book 7. The latest display has Gorilla Glass coating along with 72 percent color gamut.

There are two hinge options available in the Plus. One can go up to 105 degrees while the other option can go to 180 degrees. Samsung chose to include OCR bonding for enhanced touch experience. Including the touch screen, the device weighs around 1.39kg or 3.06 pounds. It is not the lightest around but it still very portable.

When it comes to battery life, Samsung boasts the ATIV Plus can last up to 12 hours. Provided how Haswell did with other ultrabooks on the market, this is possible. The ATIV Book 9 Lite, on the other hand, offers up to 256GB of solid-state storage. The quad-core on which it will run on clocked at 1.4Ghz is still not identified.

A range of colors is available for the product including red and black. Battery life is reportedly around 8.5 hours compared to the 12 hours on the Plus. RAM is up to 4GB.
