Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa 5420 to Power 2 Android Tablets: 10, 12.2 Samsung Galaxy Tabs vs Apple's 12-inch iPad
Samsung started working on developing and manufacturing their line of processor chips. Reports indicate the Exynos 5 Octa 5420 will be the first of these chips and it will be powering up two 10 and 12.2-inch tablets.
Reports say Samsung will be releasing the devices in interval this quarter and the next. Firstly, the Korean tech giant is poised to launch their Galaxy Note 3 phablet. Many people expect Samsung to release the device officially this September. However, despite the hype building around the new phablet, the tech giant seems intent on introducing more tablet options.
For the last few weeks, there have been speculations and numerous reports indicating Samsung's two new tablets. The devices supposedly come in 12.2 and 10-inch display formats. The 12.2 inch SM-P900 tablet features 2,560×1,600 pixel resolution display which is two times more than the Nexus 10. However, it is not just the resolution which has generated all the hype about Samsung's latest tablets.
It was also reported that Samsung has taken care of the hardware. The Korean tech manufacturer has started working on its own line of processors and these two tablets will supposedly run on the new Exynos 5 Octa 5420 processor. Both devices will feature S Pen support.
The 10 inch SM-P600 tablet, on the other hand, will have similar pixel resolution although it will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 processor in place of the Exynos. Both tablets will offer 3GB of RAM. No pictures have surfaced yet and Samsung needs to make an official announcement about the specs of the devices.
Samsung has proven itself a force to be reckoned with, not just on smartphones but also in the tablet market. It has delivered stunning displays and functions through the Nexus 10 and Samsung Galaxy Note. With Apple's next iPad rumored to be a hybrid between the tablet and MacBook, the market seems to set the stage again for another Apple-Samsung rivalry.
This time, it's not about the phones.
