LeBron James couldn't handle the heat while the San Antonio Spurs took advantage of the situation in netting the 110-to-95 blowout victory in Game 1 of the 2014 NBA Finals.
The AT&T Center in Texas had an air-conditioning malfunction for most of the game affecting all the players and none worse than James, who had to be taken off the floor for cramping.
It was a bad time for James' to not play through the injury as the Spurs turned a close game into a blowout during the final minutes of the game.
Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 21 points and missed just one shot on 10 attempts but it was Danny Green who scored 11 of his 13 points in the final quarter. Tony Parker had 19 points and 8 assists while Manu Ginobili chipped in 16 points and 11 dimes off the bench.
Miami took their biggest lead in the game at 86-79 with 9:53 to go in the fourth on Chris Bosh four-point play. The Spurs responded with a 31-9 run to end the game and draw first blood in this best-of-seven series. James finished with 25 points but had four turnovers and Dwyane Wade added 19 points on 8-of-18 field goals.
Game 2 is on Sunday (Monday morning Australia).
