SanDisk Launches The World’s First Memory Card With A Capacity of 512 GB
Professional Can Record the Moment Without Disruption
SanDisk Corporation a flash storage solutions company launched a world's highest capacity SD memory card called SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I. It is capable of storing information up to 512 GB. The transfer speed of this card is up to 95 MB per second.
The company took this initiative to solve problems faced by professions who handle high end videos and cameras. These professionals require a large storage capacity as they shoot in 4K Ultra High Definition videos and Full HD videos and high speed burst photography.
In a press release in Amsterdam Vice President of Product Marketing Dinesh Bahal said that the company is going to the limit to give customers high performance storage solutions. To solve storage problems that can handle large files the 512GB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card was developed. Professionals can now store content on a single card.
The company also manufactures micro SD cards for phones. With the pace in which the company is going it could build a micro SD card that will have more storage. Smartphone companies would be pushed to make phones with more expandable memory.
Built for the professionals, this card has various functions. The recording speed for high resolution, shutter free and real word colour is UHS Speed Class 3 (U3). Recording could be done at a stretch without disrupting the moment. It also comes with functions like Rescue data which restores data that has been lost or deleted by mistake.
Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design said that customers who use their Pocket Cinema Cameras can now shoot in every circumstance and location with this memory card give them the ability to use wide dynamic range RAW files with more productivity.
The SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I is also available in 128 GB and 256 GB storage capacity. The 512 GB card is priced at $800 which is very expensive costing more than the new smartphones that have released in the market recently. However, it is a small price to pay considering the capacity and the functionality of the SD card. Nothing has been said about the price of the 128 and 256 GB memory cards.
